Focus Point – Does Osama bin Laden have a case in his hatred of America?

I'm Pete du Pont with the National Center for Policy Analysis. Osama bin Laden states the case for hatred of America and capitalism as a given. I'm Pete du Pont with the National Center for Policy Analysis. bin Laden and his Al Qaeda minions think the case against the U.S. is obvious-we back the state of Israel…therefore, we must be the enemy of all Arabs.

Not so. In a recent edition of the Wall Street Journal, Gerald Seib noted several recent instances in which the U.S. has supported Arab objectives. U.S. troops protected Muslims from persecution in Kosovo and Bosnia. The Clinton administration recently tried to persuade Israel to not only accept the Palestinian government next door, but also share with them some sovereignty over the city of Jerusalem. And Seib notes that Saddam Hussein has killed more religious kinsmen than anyone in his wars against Iran, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

The U.S. will never be the friend of Arab terrorists…but, neither are we the enemy of all Arabs.

Those are my ideas, and at the NCPA we know ideas can change the world. I'm Pete du Pont. Next time, does Europe have the answer to safe air travel?
