We've waited eight years to talk about sensible tax ideas coming from Washington. The fact that the people are responding favorably is a bonus. A case in point, the foolish opposition to cutting the tax rates on the part of Washington liberals because they think "the people" are behind them.
Memo to Tom Daschle: the people think you're crazy.
A Rasmussen research poll asked what's the top federal income tax rate that ought to be paid by someone with an income of $1 million on each additional dollar he earns. Three out of five Americans favored a lower top rate than President Bush. Better than four out of five favored a rate no higher than 33 percent, President Bush's lowest rate for top income tax payers.
So who's reading the public better? George W. Bush, who wants to give the people their money back, or Tom Daschle and Dick Gephardt, who want to keep it?
