Connerly gained national respect and notoriety from his epic battle against affirmative action programs in the admissions process at California universities, where he argued that "No American has any entitlement to special treatment owing to what their ancestors might have endured in our nation." After a historic victory in California, Connerly has traveled the country as an outspoken advocate for equal opportunity for everyone, regardless of race or sex.
