DALLAS (Oct. 27, 1999) – The National Center for Policy Analysis today announced the addition of James N. Falk as the new vice president – development. In this role, Falk will be responsible for planning, coordinating and administering specific areas of on-going or special project funding programs, such as individual gifts, in-kind donations, direct mail campaigns, planned giving and special events.

"Jim's extensive experience in fundraising and administration combined with his knowledge of the non-profit world and his commitment to free-market principles make him a valuable asset to our organization."
Mr. Falk will work with the executive vice president on fundraising projects, goals, priorities and timelines. With the guidance of senior management, Falk will develop short-range and long-range development goals and create a framework to achieve those objectives including, where appropriate, improving the department's systems and procedures.
Among Falk's many fundraising responsibilities, will be the coordination of the NCPA's fund drives for special projects; organization of a direct mail campaign to reach potential contributors; organizing solicitation drives for pledges of new support; and the coordination of donor focused events and conferences in conjunction with the events director and marketing/public affairs director.
Falk comes to the NCPA with seven years of management experience in the not-for-profit sector, concentrating on fundraising, marketing and board and volunteer development.
Immediately prior to joining the NCPA, Falk was the regional director for the Institute of International Education (IIE) in Houston, Texas. In that role, he was responsible for administering and developing their programs throughout an 11-state region. He served as the Institute's representative to business and the media, as well as civic, legislative and educational organizations. He also oversaw IIE's fundraising activities including direct appeal, grants from corporations and foundations, major gifts and the planning of special events. During his tenure, IIE experienced a 60% increase in fundraising revenue.
Falk received a Master of Arts degree in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia, and he graduated with honors from Washington and Lee University earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. He also earned a French Baccalauréat from the Academy of Grenoble, graduating with highest honors. He is a member of the National Association of Fund Raising Executives, the Dallas World Affairs Council, the Rotary Club of Houston, the Houston Committee on Foreign Relations and The Asia Society. He is a frequent speaker and conference panelist on non-profit management, board development and fundraising.
