Best policy initiatives: House and Senate passage of a package of bills that would have phased out death taxes and the marriage penalty, increased the amount we could have contributed to our IRAs.
The worst? Bill Clinton's veto of all those bills.
Boldest policy innovation: George W. Bush finally touching the third rail of politics, and proposing social security reform with partial privatization.
Worst performance by a politician: Joe Lieberman for selling out his positions on school choice, social security reform and racial preferences.
Bottom of the barrel award: The NAACP, for its unfair and untruthful tv ads suggesting George W. Bush was somehow complicit in hate crimes.
The eat my words award: To all the Hollywood types who said they'd leave the country if Bush won. Wonder where they are today?
And the award for the best story that wasn't: Y2k. Told ya so.
