Journalist Glenn Greenwald in Irving, TX April 3rd

Source: NCPA

Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Glenn Greenwald, the lawyer and author who interviewed National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden and launched an international debate over free speech and national security, will speak at an April 3rd Irving, TX luncheon sponsored by the National Center for Policy Analysis and the Hatton W. Sumners Foundation.

Media are invited to attend. Recording is restricted to the 1st five minutes of the speech.

Greenwald is the author of four New York Times’ Best Sellers and the winner of numerous awards for excellence in reporting.

Greenwald will talk about his views on the line between national security and individual liberty and privacy. There is a 20 minute Q&A segment following Greenwald’s speech.

Prior to coming into contact with Snowden, Greenwald reported on several key national security events, including the NSA warrantless surveillance controversy, the 2001 anthrax attacks, the candidacy of former CIA official John O. Brennan for key positions in national intelligence.

Citizenfour, the documentary that chronicled Greenwald’s interviews of Snowden in Hong Kong, recently won the Academy Award for best documentary. His most recent book, No Place to Hide: Edward Snowden, the NSA, and the U.S. Surveillance State — depicts his 11-day interview with Snowden.

Whether you are in favor of America’s surveillance programs or concerned about government intrusion into individuals’ privacy, this NCPA luncheon will provide you with a firsthand look at one of the most controversial episodes in recent history — one which will undoubtedly remain at the forefront of the American policy debate.
