About Emily Miller

Emily Miller is senior editor of the opinion pages at the Washington Times. She appears regularly on CNN, Fox News, CNBC, and CBS as an expert on gun-control issues, as well as other political topics.

Miller’s reporting on the Second Amendment has won her three awards. She received the prestigious Institute on Political Journalism’s Clark Mollenhoff Award for Investigative Reporting for her “Emily Gets Her Gun” series on the District of Columbia’s gun laws. She received the Second Amendment Foundation’s “Journalist of the Year” award in both 2012 and 2013.

Miller’s journalism experience includes being the senior editor of Human Events and a columnist for AOL’s Politics Daily. She has worked in the Washington news bureaus of ABC News and NBC News. She was the associate producer for ABC News This Week—with David Brinkley and then with Sam Donaldson and Cokie Roberts—as well as for Good Morning America. She started in journalism as a desk assistant at NBC News.

She was deputy press secretary at the U.S. Department of State as a political appointee in the administration of President George W. Bush. She worked directly with Secretaries of State Colin L. Powell and Condoleezza Rice to develop and implement communication strategies to achieve U.S. foreign policy objectives.

A Baltimore native, Miller is a cum laude graduate of Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.
