The National Center for Policy Analysis last week unveiled a map which shows bans and restrictions on hydraulic fracturing in the U.S. The group, a nonprofit and nonpartisan public policy research organization in the U.S., contends that such bans pose a threat to the economy and energy security of the U.S. Some states, such as New York, have a statewide fracking ban as well as a number of local bans and restrictions. Other states, such as Texas, have local laws and restrictions that have thwarted attempts to institute bans or restrictions locally.
