NCPA & PRI To Co-Host Conference On Urban Sprawl Issues
DALLAS, (March 12, 2001) — According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Texas is expected to grow by more than 7 million people by the year 2025-the second largest increase in the nation. According to federal government estimates, Texas is developing over 250 square miles a year to accommodate its rapid population and job growth. As such, policy makers all across the state face formidable challenges.
To that end, the Dallas-based National Center for Policy Analysis (NCPA) will co-host a one-day conference this week with the Pacific Research Institute for Public Policy entitled: How Should Texas Grow? An Exploration of Policy Tradeoffs. The goal of the conference is to provide policy makers at the state level and local level – especially those in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex – with a range of ideas from some of the nation's leading experts on how to deal with the linkages between land use planning, transportation, and environmental concerns.
