NCPA Announces Launch of Online National Security Petition

Dallas, TX

The National Center for Policy Analysis (NCPA) today launched a new online petition demanding Congress enact a national defense plan that properly protects our nation and supports a capable and economically efficient military.

“The president and Congress used last year’s National Defense Authorization Act to devastate an already diminished military. This April, Congress votes again on the NDAA, putting our national defense on the line once more,” said NCPA President/CEO Allen West in a video announcing the launch.

The petition urges Congress to craft a NDAA which would create a fiscally responsible military that will keep America safe, by employing the following:

  • Build a military ready to deploy and capable of defending America against terrorists and adversarial governments.
  • Reduce the growth of the Department of Defense bureaucracy and eliminate redundant military and civilian positions to create a more effective and agile fighting force.
  • Transform warfighting strategies so that military objectives are clearly defined and achievable, and rules of engagement do not create unnecessary risk for our men and women in combat zones.
  • Reform the military acquisition and research and development process to eliminate significant cost overruns and guarantee warfighters receive modern weapon systems on time and under budget.
  • Compensate our men and women in the military at a pay rate above poverty level so service men and women do not have to be on federal government assistance.

The NCPA’s goal is to deliver the petition to Congress ahead of the crucial National Defense Authorization Act vote, expected in April.
