OFFSETS FOR THE MED DEVICE TAX — Finding the $24 billion in offsets for repealing the ACA’s medical device tax shouldn’t be so hard, writes National Center for Policy Analysis Senior Fellow John Graham in Forbes. Graham has combed through President Obama’s budget proposal and found several opportunities: Medicare’s coverage of hospitals’ bad debts, for one, could save the feds $31 billion over a decade. Reforming Medigap plans, Part D coverage and Medicaid provider taxes would mean $24 billion in savings, he suggests.
